4 Bollywood films we wish had a different ending

As Indians, we love happy endings in films. How many times have we come out of a cinema hall and wondered and wished the ending could have been different? After sitting through almost three hours, sometimes there is a feeling if only! We look at seven Bollywood films we wish had a different ending. Ram Leela- Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela seemed to be inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Ram Leela is the story of two warring families and how their children (Ram and Leela) fall in love with each other, only to turn enemies due to some misunderstandings. Towards the end of the film, when all seems well and the two families embrace, Ram and Leela decide to die at the hands of each other as they are lovers and prefer this death than to be killed by their families. In a tragic end, the two eventually shoot each other and die when they could have easily lived and the film could have had a happy ending. Seemed a bit cliché and the two not dying would have been a different twist to the age old tale.

Aashiqui 2- This was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2013. Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, Aashiqui 2 is the turbulent story of Rahul (Aditya) and Arohi (Shraddha). Directed by Mohit Suri, this film is a sequel to the 1990 film Aashiqui. Here, both Rahul and Arohi are madly in love with each other and are signers by profession. Somewhere Arohi gets more popular but because of her love for Aditya, she is ready to sacrifice her career so she can look after him. Aditya is an alcoholic and this come s in the way of his work. Eventually he commits suicide as he doesn't want to be a burden on Arohi who plans to quit her musical journey. The ending was a bummer and we wished that he would have lived and rehabilitated himself instead of taking the suicide route. The film would have been just perfect had Arohi and Aditya started afresh on a clean note, both pursuing their passion for singing and eventually marrying.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam- Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ambitious project Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a box office hit and Aishwarya's onscreen chemistry with both Salman and Ajay Devgn did wonders for cine goers. It was the first time that the three were sharing screen space together. Revolving around the love story of Sameer (Salman Khan) and Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), HDDCS connected well with masses. Even Ajay Devgn was much loved in the film. His character Vanraj ends up marrying Nandini and on their honeymoon, go to find her lover Sameer in Italy. In the end, when Vanraj is about to unite Nandini and Sameer, she has a change of heart and decides to stay married instead of running away with her lover. People loved Nandini and Sameer's character and chemistry so much that they wished the ending would have been different, that Vanraj should have reunited Nandini and Sameer and perhaps married someone else.

New York- Katrina Kaif, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh did a brilliant job in this Kabir Khan directorial. A tale of terrorism, Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is forced to frame his college friend Samir (John Abraham) who is a suspected terrorist. Samir is also married to Maya (Katrina Kaif) and the two have a son together. Omar is wrongly framed by cops in new York and in order to save himself, he must spill the beans on Samir. Eventually in the end, Samir is killed and even Maya dies. Omar then ends up taking care of their son. While the whole movie put us on an emotional ride, we just wish the end had been different. Even though Samir would have turned himself in, the end result would have been disastrous either way. But to see him and Maya die was saddening and an ending we wish could have been avoided.
